While most of the Android users are still stuck on Android 10, waiting for their OEMs to push an update to Android 11, Google is working upon its next iteration of the Android. There is not much in the way of Android 12 news yet, but Google has saidin a blog post that the Android 12 will make it even easier for people to use other app stores on their devices while being careful not to compromise the safety measures Android has in place. Google hasn’t clearly defined how it will work, but it may allow other App stores legally to reside on your phone.
One of the most problematic issues withAndroid updates is that users struggle to get the Android updates on time. This is due to the fact that the OTA updates scheduled by the OEMs are often delayed. However, this will change with Android 12, as Google is making Android Runtime (ART) a Mainline module in Android 12. This would allow it to deliver more operating system updates through the Google Play Store, rather than sending them out as conventional OTA updates. However, a lot of updates would still need to be delivered the old-fashioned way.
Google is also working on a new feature to help users free up storage in their devices. The feature is called app hibernation. It will allow the device to automatically hibernate unused apps and clearing out cache and data stored by the app. This feature is similar to an iPhone storage feature called Offload Unused Apps, which was announced some years ago. We can expect more information to appear as the Android 12 developer preview arrives in a few weeks.
