Clubhouse has finally started testing its app for Android. The app, which has been a massive hit on iOS, still remains unavailable to a majority of users. The company announced the development in a recent town hall event. According to the announcement, the Android version of Clubhouse had entered beta testing with a few "friendly testers." The initial testers will provide the company with early feedback before the app is eventually rolled out to the rest of the public.
However, since it is a closed beta test, new Android users will not be able to sign up for the app yet. Once the app passes bug fixes and improvements in the closed beta test, it will be released to the public. Clubhouse has urged its existing user base to give "a warm welcome" to anyone claiming to be using the Android version as part of the beta test. It also indicated that more Android users would be taken on board "over the coming weeks."
However, due to iOS exclusivity and invite system only, it has been losing ground to other players like Telegram, Twitter, and many others. The audio chat feature is already available for Telegram users, and Twitter Spaces is on a rollout. While Facebook, Instagram, Spotify, Reddit, Linkedin are also on the verge of releasing this audio chat feature into their apps. Clubhouse seems to now catching up with its competitors and could release the Android version soon enough. There is no specific timeline for the launch; however, it is expected to be released in a matter of few weeks for the public.
