Oracle has issued a critical security update, where it is addressing a total of 254 security vulnerabilities across its wide range of products. One of the prominent security patches within the update is CVE-2017-5753 or Spectre variant 1, which fixes the Spectre-related issue.
The tech conglomerate has advised its users to check their systems and install the updates the earliest. In order to stay safe and away from cyber criminals, Oracle said in a blog post to its users to update all the products to the latest version.
Additional Updates
Apart from this, Oracle also made a new announcement where there will be no public updates for Java SE 8 business users from January 2019. But if you’ve got a commercial license, then it’s nothing to worry about, the software giant reassures! However, individuals using it for personal use will have the same access to Oracle Java SE 8 updates till at least 2020.
“In most instances, the Java-based applications you run are licensed separately by a company other than Oracle (for example, games you play on your PC are likely developed by a gaming company),” Oracle said in a statement.
