To carry out NASA's efforts to push space exploration forward and generate commercial space opportunities, Jared Isaacman, private astronaut and CEO of Shift4 Payments, has been nominated.
In a nomination made by the US President-elect, Donald Trump, the billionaire businessman, and private astronaut Jared Isaacman has been appointed as the new head of NASA. At 41 years old, Isaacman is a founder and CEO of Shift4 Payments and has a reputation as well as fame through his great contacts with SpaceX.
He launched into the books of records with the October 2021 Polaris spacewalk, which he undertook outside a Crew Dragon capsule: during this mission under its relationship with SpaceX, the first-ever private astronaut had stepped out into the wide void of space. This event was one in the history of space exploration that showed how private interest could contribute to deep spaced missions.
NASA missions to inspire space exploration and Isaacman's vision of a blossoming 'space economy' with all kinds of opportunities to live or work in space are encouraged by Trump's nomination. Isaacman, who has been hit with intense scrutiny over Marsy hopes that Elon Musk and spaces company SpaceX, remains a staunch supporter of SpaceX's exploration goals and a strong ally in NASA's continuing advancements in space science and technology.
Isaacman has already shown his skill as a philanthropist and a great aviator by investing $200 million into sending himself via the all civilian Inspiration4 mission into space. Taking space opportunities to the next level, he hopes to expand NASA’s role in breaking new ground in space.
