In addition to Iyer, Pant and Rahul, a total of 1,574 players will be participating. IPL 2025's magnetic auction event will go for Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on November 24th- 25th, 2024.
The BCCI informed on Tuesday. The IPL 2025 mega auction held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, is intended to be on November 24 and 25, 2024. Yet, the IPL 2024 auction turns out to be the second consecutive year the auction has been hosted outside the country; preceding it Dubai welcomed the teams last year,
A total of 1,574 cricketers (1,165 Indian players, 409 overseas stars) have registered for the auction. On 4th November 2024, player registration closed and the auction was held over the evening and first full day of the first Test match between India, and Australia in Perth.
For the 204 available slots, franchises will be bidding and a mixture of 320 capped players, 1,224 uncapped players and 30 from Associate Nations will be available. Bidders will want to sign high-profile players including Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer and Arshdeep Singh.
Media has stated that each franchise has the right to build a team of 25 players with a maximum of 8 overseas players. Putting it that way, the total spendable purse for the 10 teams comes to around ₹641.5 crore. Punjab Kings, after the retention on October 31, have the biggest purse money of ₹110.5 crore, while Rajasthan Royals has the smallest of ₹41 crore.
