The English fast bowler, James Anderson, hints to return to white-ball cricket post-retirement from international cricket.
Former English fast bowler James Anderson, the highest wicket taker for England in the Test format, has hinted to return to T20 cricket. It is reported that Anderson has shown interest in Major League Cricket (MLC), a growing T20 league in the US, as a probable recruit for its next season in 2025. An unnamed MLC franchise is assessing if the 42-year-old Pacer would be interested in taking part in the growing T20 tournament in the United States.
Anderson had recently joined England’s test team as a fast-bowling mentor for a while, post the first test match against the West Indies, which was his last match for the English team.
His return to the shorter format have kept his fans curious in the interest of MLC, and this has garnered attention of star players like the Australian Captain Pat Cummins, Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell, Travis Head, Marcus Stoinis, and his fellow teammate Jason Roy, Liam Plunkett (who retired in 2019 post-World Cup victory in England), and many others.
If Anderson signs this agreement, then he could earn approximately about 135,000 euros for a short stint in the competition. Even though Anderson played his last T20 game in 2014, he has expressed his assurance that his ability to perform in the shorter format would still be lethal.
Microsoft’s CEO, Satya Nadella, has backed the MLC, and has made it obvious that it intends to attract elite English talent to the league.
