Google is rolling out a new app called Files Go that is targeted for Android users to better manage their files. The app comes with file transferring even while offline. Files Go will basically allow users to manage, clean up, and share files on their Android phones.
With the features that Files Go posses, it can be said that the app is part file transfer utility, and part clean up wizard. The main screen shows the remaining storage space available after being used up by apps, files, and other things on your phone. Then comes the tools that offer to clean up the cache, or simply browse through the area where files have accumulated. Another screen offers a list of file types, like images, videos, and audio, as well as a section for received files.
Taking on AirDrop
Interestingly, the functioning of Files Go is very similar to Apple’s AirDrop. AirDrop easily lets you send files to nearby phones over Bluetooth. The file transfer feature doesn’t appear to work quite as smoothly as AirDrop. Both people need to have the Files Go app open, whereas AirDrop lets you send files from any app to any nearby contact, even if they don’t have the same app. Files Go will be available for download globally by early December.
