Western Digital’s New Framework Helps Businesses Optimize AI Storage with High-Performance and Cost-Effective Solutions
Western Digital has introduced a groundbreaking AI Data Cycle framework, designed to help businesses capture the full value of their AI investments. This six-stage framework defines the optimal storage mix for AI workloads at scale, enabling customers to plan and develop advanced storage infrastructures. The goal is to maximize efficiency, improve performance, and reduce the total cost of ownership (TCO) for AI workflows.
Western Digital's new Ultrastar DC SN861 SSD is their first enterprise-class PCIe Gen 5.0 solution, offering industry-leading random read performance and high power efficiency for AI workloads. With capacities up to 16TB, it delivers up to three times the random read performance of its predecessor, making it ideal for large language model (LLM) training and AI service deployment.
Complementing this is the Ultrastar DC SN655 SSD, designed for storage-intensive applications. The new U.3 SSD options will reach up to 64TB, providing higher performance and capacity for AI data preparation and faster, larger data lakes.
For massive data storage needs, Western Digital is now sampling a 32TB ePMR enterprise-class HDD. The Ultrastar DC HC690 high-capacity UltraSMR HDD is designed for hyperscale cloud and enterprise data centers, playing a crucial role in AI workflows that require large-scale data storage and low TCO.
