AT&T and Elizabeth Dole Foundation are coming together to provide discounted internet access for the low-income veterans, military caregivers and their families. Aimed to help the vets in the low-income bracket the program wants to make internet access easier.
The program will expand the AT&T Access Program and will be available to the veteran families living within six major metros across the company’s 21-state wireline service area. According to the U.S. Census Bureau’s American Community Survey, 30% of low-income veterans do not have access to the internet. This program by the telecom giant in conjunction with the Elizabeth Dole Foundation is looking to change these numbers. The program will give veteran families an opportunity to tap into low-cost internet service.
Erin Scarborough, VP of wired voice and broadband products at AT&T said in a statement: “Affordable access to the internet helps individuals and communities stay connected, do business and grow. We are proud to help promote digital inclusion for low-income, veteran households, and glad to see organizations like The Dole Foundation support this program.”
To raise the awareness about the program AT&T and Elizabeth Dole Foundation will be reaching out to the veterans through their community of caregivers and will host events for the same.
