Jio's impressive data traffic and 5G subscriber growth position it as a global leader, setting the stage for potential tariff hikes post-general elections.
Reliance Jio, India’s leading telecommunications operator, has achieved a significant milestone by becoming the world's largest mobile operator in terms of data traffic consumption, surpassing China Mobile. According to data from global analytics firm Tefficient, Jio's total data traffic reached 40.9 Exabytes during the January-March quarter, outpacing China Mobile's 38 Exabytes.
In addition to its data traffic achievement, Jio also boasts the second-largest 5G subscriber base globally, with 108 million subscribers. Impressively, over 28% of Jio's total wireless data traffic is now generated by its 5G users, reflecting the company's rapid adoption of next-generation technology.
Industry analysts anticipate that Jio's robust user growth and market share gains will pave the way for revenue growth, particularly when tariff hikes are implemented. With the upcoming general elections expected to conclude in early June, experts predict tariff increases of 20-25% shortly thereafter. These tariff hikes are likely to further boost Jio's revenue streams, capitalizing on its expanding user base and market leadership.
Reliance Jio's impressive data traffic and subscriber growth position the company as a global telecommunications leader. As the industry continues to evolve with the introduction of 5G technology and increasing data consumption, Jio's innovative approach and expansive network infrastructure set the stage for continued success in the rapidly changing telecommunications landscape.
