In the competitive world that we live in, there is cut-throat war taking place in every market. When it comes to the telecom market, the war is evident between the top players who are fighting their way to the top position. But here comes news where T-Mobile, a much smaller company than Verizon and AT&T, was able to secure its position.
It should be noted here that currently, T-Mobile ranks number one in download speed and LTE availability. AT&T and Verizon occupy the second and third places respectively. Another thing to note here was during the Q2, the networks coincidently (or maybe not) launched their new unlimited offerings which strained the users’ data consumption.
The strategy that T-Mobile used here can be understood as its success story. This signifies how smaller companies can zoom ahead competitors and even disrupt the market, the US carrier market to be specific.
All the carrier networks in the US have been fighting and struggling to retain their subscriber base. This is also because the smartphone and tablet adoption have reached a saturation level. This is where T-Mobile is emerging with its market ideas. T-Mobile’s disruptive and appealing unlimited offers have attracted customers from other networks, specifically Verizon and AT&T.
If the figures and numbers are to be pulled out, there is a significant change. Early this year, T-Mobile had added 1.1 million customers into its base. On the other hand, Verizon lost nearly 307,000 customers of wireless postpaid connections.
But so far, all seems to be in favor of T-Mobile. However, the competitors aren’t sitting idle (they never do). Verizon and AT&T are moving their focus onto other things like IoT and video delivery. All this is another strategy to lure back customers and subscribers. But for now, T-Mobile is basking in its first position.
