The CEO of Air India shares plans to revamp its fleet, expand globally and improve handling of misconduct using regulations and upskilling crews.
The CEO of Air India, Campbell Wilson, has discussed the challenges of increased unruly passenger behavior which has caused delays and other problems for the airline. During his interview with NDTV, the CEO emphasized how important it is for crew to behave appropriately, while assuring that efforts are underway to help and train them to deal with emergencies.
The CEO highlighted that the DGCA made incident reporting more efficient, so flight staff no longer have to wait a long time before they can report. He strongly argued that high safety and service standards depend on passengers being held accountable.
Wilson described the changes Air India has gone through. Over 50% of Air Canada’s planes now have fresh interiors and the airline plans to update the rest by FY26. The CEO said that in two years, premium seat sales have doubled and the number of international travel destinations is up by 25%.
In the near future, Air India is focused on growing its worldwide reach. The purchase of 570 new aircraft allows the airline to more than double its present fleet. The CEO believes that the country’s aviation industry depends on the airline and it is ready to profit from rising global traffic coming through India.
