VMware announces its intent of buying Avi Networks

VMware has announced that it is about to acquire Avi Networks. The acquisition will extend VMware’s capability to deliver multi-cloud application delivery services.

Avi Networks’ products are deployed with hundreds of customers which include many Fortune 500 names including leading banks, media companies, retailers and manufacturing firms. The company has especially delivered many online applications including financial management, tickets, retail, streaming media and online payments which are delivered by Avi Platform.

Avi Networks was founded by 2012 and is headquartered in Santa Clara, California. The company has R&D, support, engineering, and sales office in Europe and Asia.

The company on its press release wrote: “Avi Networks will enable VMware to bring the public cloud experience to the entire data center – automated, software-defined, highly scalable distributed architecture, and intrinsically more secure – and deliver the industry’s most complete software-defined networking stack from L2-7 built for the modern multi-cloud era.”

Avi Networks has raised $112 million in funding to date. Among its investors are big names like Greylock, Lightspeed Venture and Menlo Ventures and others. The company counts Cisco, Telegraph Media Group, Hulu, and Deutsche Bank to be among its long list of customers.
