Maple Donuts Acquired by Swander Pace Capital to Expand Food & Beverages Portfolio

Swander Pace Capital acquires Maple Donuts to expand its product offerings and enhance the quality of their food and beverage manufacturing.

Swander Pace Capital, a private-equity firm, has acquired Maple Donuts Inc., a Pennsylvania frozen bakery manufacturer and Partners Capital and Constitution Capital Partners are leading the co-investors. The acquisition shows Swander Pace is growing its investments in the food & beverages business.

In 1946, Maple Donuts started and since then, it has made private-label donuts sold across the nation in various retail and food service places. The company possesses ready-to-sell products as well as those awaiting completion by buyers. Maple Donuts is to include new products, improve its production lines and increase its prominence in the food & beverages industry as it changes ownership.

When asked, Damian and Nathaniel Burnside said, “We strongly believe that Swander Pace Capital will guide Maple Donuts successfully through its future growth.”

This investment brings Swander Pace’s total in bakeries up to 15 and the number of food & beverage platforms to eight. Voortman Cookies, Boulangerie St. Méthode, Nonni’s Biscotti and Café Valley are just some of the businesses Gores has bought earlier. Lately, Freed’s Bakery assets were acquired by the company which now offers iced mini cupcakes for major retailers.

With this deal, private-equity groups are taking advantage of the rising popularity of specialty and private-label baked goods.
