Six Flags, Great Adventure, Kingda Ka, Closure

Six Flags Great Adventure announces next wave of expansion, includes retirement of Kingda Ka and Green Lantern coasters, replacement with brand new record-breaking launch coaster set for 2026.

Six Flags Great Adventure addresses the speculation large and small, confirming Kingda Ka permanently closed. That cool ride, at the time one of the country's tallest and fastest, will likewise bid farewell as part of a broader effort to enhance and upgrade what Six Flags Great Adventure has to offer.

Kingda Ka and Green Lantern coasters are closing permanently due to maintenance and operational issues, including alcohol-based maintenance and mechanical problems in Kingda Ka. Disputes, such as a legal complaint regarding a rider who suffered an injury in 2019, also played a part in Kingda Ka’s decision to suspend operations.

Six Flags is looking to enhance the existing rides at their amusement parks as represented in order not to lose out in the tourism market. Internal factors such as the expansion of cedar fair and changes within the same industry compel six flags to offer advanced variations of entertainment.

In the future, Six Flags was recently reported as planning to launch a new launch coaster that will break multiple records in 2026 to take the place of Kingda Ka. In addition, the park will also introduce The Flash: Vertical Velocity by the year 2025 which will mark the debut of the first super-boomerang coaster in the history of North America.

In spite of the closure of some attractions, particularly the one referred to above, fans can look forward to more expectations for expansion and new attractions in the course of Six Flags, as it goes ahead with its ambitious plans on the future of its theme parks.
