A recently formed NASA panel publicly voiced their concerns on Wednesday, about the stigma surrounding UFO sighting and how that posed challenges for the team.
At a hearing, a NASA panel assigned with examining reports of "unidentified aerial phenomena" stated that attempts to discover their origins, may be hampered by the stigma attached to reporting UFO sightings, as well as the persecution of those who labor to examine them.
The panel, which was established, last year, delivered preliminary findings on Wednesday during the group's first open meeting. A full report is anticipated to be released this summer. The team emphasized the requirement for additional high-quality data, to adequately examine unexpected sightings.
According to NASA's Science Mission Directorate assistant deputy associate administrator for research Daniel Evans, there hasn't been any solid proof that reports of UFOs have anything to do with extraterrestrial life. Although the possibility of alien origins is not excluded, the autonomous panel was established to explore more general national security issues, he said.
According to NASA's science leader, Nicola Fox, the stigma associated with the practices of reporting and analyzing unexplained aviation phenomena isn't helping, whether for members of the public, commercial pilots, or the military.
According to Fox, the purpose of the NASA group was to develop a plan for assessing and classifying the nature of unexplained flying objects using scientific methods.
The findings given at the public conference were informed by the experts' utilization of declassified data from civilian and government organizations.
