Partnership powers smarter, greener logistics with cutting-edge vehicle software.
In a bold move to reshape the future of logistics, Isuzu Motors Limited and Fujitsu Limited announced a partnership on April 15, 2025, to develop advanced software-defined vehicles (SDVs) for commercial use. Based in Yokohama and Kawasaki, Japan, the duo is set to transform trucks with smart software, making logistics faster, greener, and more efficient.
This collaboration focuses on building powerful software systems to upgrade Isuzu’s commercial vehicles. By combining Isuzu’s truck-building expertise with Fujitsu’s digital know-how, they’re creating vehicles that can update their software on the go, optimize routes, and even manage energy for electric and fuel-cell trucks. These upgrades promise smoother operations, lower costs, and fewer emissions—a win for businesses and the planet.
Building on their earlier success with GATEX, a platform launched in 2022 that supports 570,000 vehicles with tools like maintenance program PREISM and telematics system MIMAMORI, the partners aim to make GATEX the backbone of SDVs. The software will help drivers and companies track data, streamline deliveries, and cut carbon footprints.
Backed by Isuzu’s 1 trillion yen innovation fund, this partnership is a cornerstone for next-generation trucks, blending autonomous driving and connected tech. Fujitsu’s SDV expertise will speed up software development, paving the way for a logistics revolution. Together, they’re not just building trucks—they’re coding a smarter, sustainable future.
