grandcentrix GmbH, a company that provides Internet of Things (IoT) solutions to German SMEs is being acquired by Vodafone Germany. The acquisition will help Vodafone take an active role in the proliferation of IoT in Germany.
Vodafone had been planning to invest in the area for quite a while now. “The vision is usually clear, but the implementation of digitization and networking of its products and services is often new territory for medium-sized companies. Whether new platforms, cloud services, apps or artificial intelligence - with grandcentrix we want to offer our customers everything from consulting to market-ready realization from a single source, what they need on the way to a networked future,” said Matthias Krömer, Head of Strategy at Vodafone Germany.
After the merger, grancentrix plans to work more on “componentization and productization of preconceived solution components.” The company is looking forward to expanding its products and services. The company will be significantly expanding its expertise in the area of low-power wide-area technologies including Narrowband IoT and LTE-M.
The acquisition is subject to regulatory approvals but the process is expected to go through by the end of the year.
