You’ve been in the healthcare sector for a very long time. How did you get the idea and concept for Culbert Healthcare Solutions?
That’s right. I’ve worked in the field for twenty years. I felt it was time to go off on my own and so I established Culbert Healthcare Solutions. We’re dedicated to serving the unique needs of healthcare organizations.
Culbert Healthcare Solutions has been around for more than a decade. What was your mission when you established the firm? How has it changed over the years?
Initially when we started off, it was important to survive! I didn’t want to have to get a real job. Over the years, it’s been established that our mission is to help our clients succeed. We also strive to be a trusted advisor to all our clients. Our vision is that we strive to be widely recognized as a leader in providing healthcare services that are of the highest quality and value, reflecting our unwavering commitment to excellence and innovation.

I believe the way to stay ahead is by staying informed. One needs to stay updated about prevention techniques and constantly review policies and procedures.
In reference to the current market, what you feel about the growth opportunities present today?
Growth can come in several forms. As the leader of an independently owned firm, whose growth has always been funded through profits from operations, revenue and profitability are requisites of our business. Where the growth in those areas is derived from is one of the enjoyable parts of my job. Identifying industry trends, potential client challenges, and where healthcare organizations must invest to satisfy the never-ending regulatory requirements- drives our staff development and recruiting strategies. So, financial growth is only obtainable by developing and expanding the skills and talents of our team. Fortunately, these objectives are intricately intertwined; and the best way to retain our top talent is to put them in positions where they can grow professionally and develop new talents and expand their levels of responsibilities- within both our firm and their client environments.
According to you, what is the next big thing in the technology marketplace?
It’s going to be Artificial Intelligence. There will also be drastic improvements in analytics in the future.

To be a successful consultant, one must accept the principle of being a lifelong learner. Clients require innovative solutions to continually improve their ability to care for patients, which reduces operating costs. The only certainty in this industry is uncertainty. Almost every engagement of ours involves a focused discipline on change management. The successful completion of a client engagement requires our team to guide clients through the change management process.
Tell us about your business strategies.
Our Business strategy is quite simple. Ultimately, it is as simple as striving to keep our clients and employees happy and successful. Culbert Healthcare Solutions was established in 2006. We’d love to hear your success stories achieved over the years.
We worked hard to go the extra mile for our clients. We avoided getting into debt which allowed us to do the right thing for our clients and employees in good times and bad. We strive to do the right thing the first time, but we also own our mistakes.
What according to you are the traits that every successful entrepreneur should have?
I feel that an entrepreneur should be passionate, have an unlimited work ethic, blind optimism and willingness to wow your clients and employees daily.
If you had one piece of advice to someone just starting out, what would it be?
Be prepared to live without a paycheck for the first 2 years, be frugal and realize you’ll not be working a 40 hour a week job. It’s 7/24.

Rob began his career as a Mumps Programmer. But it was an internship at Walt Disney World that introduced him to customer support and he realized his passion for consulting. Rob has 33 years of experience in serving healthcare organizations across the country including 13+ years with Culbert Healthcare Solutions. Also, one of his notable achievements is his Eagle Scout rank.
