Microsoft has finally given the enthusiasts a look at how its device-agnostic game streaming service will be. The company chose to give people a live demonstration of the game streaming service at the Microsoft’s Inside Xbox event.
Streaming from its Azure data centers to an Android device, the company showed off the Forza Horizon 4. During the demo, an Xbox One controller was connected to the phone through Bluetooth to demonstrate the service. A gamer will be able to use Project xCloud anywhere with a good internet connection. Explaining this, Kareem Choudhry, Corporate VP, Gaming Cloud wrote on the company blog: “Our focus is delivering an amazing added experience to existing Xbox players and on empowering developers to scale to hundreds of millions of new players across devices.”
The company has emphasized that it does not intend to replace the gaming consoles by introducing the Project xCloud, instead, it aims to give people on a smartphone a way to play Xbox games. The Project xCloud game streaming service though plans to go for the public trials only later this year. Microsoft will have a worthy competitor in Google as it prepares to unveil its own plan of game streaming at the Game Developers Conference next week.
