VAST Data announced a strategic alliance with Vertica to help businesses consolidate their structured and unstructured data silos to democratize data for real-time data analytics, exploration, and insights.
Combining VAST’s all-flash Universal Storage data platform with Vertica’s analytical database will provide customers with the data protection, performance, resiliency, and scale required for today’s modern and converged data warehouse and data lake applications.
The Vertica and VAST collaboration support the emerging “data lakehouse” architecture—a combination of data warehouse and data lake architectures to function as a one-stop shop for a firm’s full complement of structures, semi-structured, and unstructured data. Paired with Vertica, the disaggregated shared everything (DASE) architecture of VAST Data’ Universal Storage allows customers to benefit from real-time storage performance for their entire use case, ranging from ad hoc queries and data-warehouse analytics to complex data science jobs.
The collaborative solution also supports the rise of interactive and dynamic query jobs to uncover new insights or patterns in real-time to enable hyper-personalized user experiences. This is made possible because all the data is stored in all-flash, tireless lakehouse data architecture, making the entire data available at any time for every application.
VAST Data’s co-founder and CMO, Jeff Denworth, said that organizations across various industries were being asked to do more with their data in less time, which requires a simpler infrastructure to make it possible, regardless of the data’s location.
