Mercedes-Benz continues to fulfill its promise to go all-electric by 2030 with the announcement of the AMG EQE 53, a high-performance version of the German automaker’s electric E-Class sedan.
A new high-performance AMG model from Mercedes-Benz meant a berserk engine with a prolific boost and a suitably deep and grunty V8 soundtrack. Electric motors are slowly replacing internal combustion, but the new Mercedes-AMG EQE has nearly 677 horsepower (505 kilowatts) available from the two AMG-tuned electric motors in the Dynamic Pus package doesn’t really change the tried and tested AMG formula. The new car is just a bit noiseless.
Extreme power is still the focal point of an AMG upgrade, and it’s not just a case of increasing the voltage. For beginners, the AMG EQE gets standard-issue 4matic+ all-wheel drive with dual motors, and AMG tunes them with adapted windings, a specific inverter, and other electric jargon that makes them capable of greater output. The AMG EQE makes a combined 617 hp (460 kilowatts) and 701 pound-feet (950 Nm) of torque in the standard trim. However, the aforementioned Dynamic Plus package adds a temporary boost function that delivers 677 hp. Torque also increases to 738 pound-feet (1,001 Nm).
Mercedes-Benz says that the new AMG EQE will be wicked fast, boasting a 0-60mph acceleration of 3.2 seconds as a top speed of 19 mph with the Dynamic Plus package.
