Microsoft integrates LinkedIn with Office 365

There’s the latest news of what Microsoft is doing with LinkedIn and here it is. LinkedIn profiles are going to be integrated into Microsoft Office 365. Although Microsoft had bought LinkedIn for $26.6 billion, nothing was done with the data it amounted from LinkedIn. Well, that’s about change now with the integration of LinkedIn’s social graph with Microsoft’s Office products.

To be more precise, the integration involves LinkedIn’s data with Office 365 profile cards. This means that users can see more information about professional contacts and colleagues right in Office 365 without having to go to their LinkedIn profiles.

The professional networking company said in a statement, “Users who have access to this feature can access LinkedIn profile information by hovering over a person’s name and navigating to the ‘LinkedIn’ tab on the new profile card. Microsoft service administrators continue to have control over organizational privacy and connected features in their tenant. We respect end-user privacy and will honor your LinkedIn privacy and profile visibility settings.”

Microsoft’s spokesperson Frank X. Shaw said at Ignite conference in Orlando, “This will result in experiences like having LinkedIn content integrated with the Office 365 profile card. For example, before you go into an interview, information about that person from LinkedIn will show up in their contact card inside your Outlook Calendar in Office 365.”
