Medsphere System’s CareVue electronic health record (EHR) is moving to Amazon Web Services cloud infrastructure. In an announcement made at the recent HIMSS18. CareVue has OpenVista technology derived from the VA’s pioneering VistA system.
Now this open-source subscription-based CareVue HER is offering a platform-as-a-service option for small, rural, and other community hospitals. With this, these hospitals can manage their data and increase their cybersecurity measures, in addition to AWS’ own robust security measures.
Medsphere CEO Irv Lichtenwald in a statement, “Our goal has been to balance out the tension between security and system access, and we’re confident that CareVue Cloud creates peace of mind without putting unnecessary burdens on clinicians.”
On the other hand, Mark Johnston, director of global business development for healthcare, life sciences, and agriculture technology at AWS, believes that these are changing times for the cloud services. A lot of people are turning to the cloud services, and that has a lot to do with Amazon’s strong cybersecurity track record he said.
This is why Medsphere is striving to re-assume its hospital customers by adding to AWS system redundancy safe sharing protocols. While this protection is difficult for most hospitals to build on their won, Medsphere is trying to achieve even higher security for it CareVue Cloud.
