If you thought the Echo Look was a deal breaker, then look out, Amazon went a step further with the new Amazon Echo Show. IT is exactly as its name describes, it not only listens and speaks, now Alexa can show you things too, like a recipe on Youtube or your favorite series.
Amazon has packed quite a punch with this device. With Far-field voice recognition, eight microphones, beam-forming technology, and noise cancellation allow users to be heard from anywhere in the room, well over the loud music coming from the Echo Show itself.
The Echo show is the most recent of Amazon's smart speakers which started with the original Echo and was followed by the Echo dot and Echo look. Featuring a 7-inch screen, the Echo show is not just a smart speaker, it is a smart hub for your home.
“Echo Show brings you everything you love about Alexa, and now she can show you things. Watch video flash briefings and YouTube, see music lyrics, security cameras, photos, weather forecasts, to-do and shopping lists, and more. All hands-free—just ask,” Amazon notes in its blurb on its product page.
Built around Alexa, the Echo show is not just a smart speaker anymore. it can also help you control other devices at your home like security cameras, AC, your lights and much more. IT is definitely a smart hub for homes. It is compatible with devices from brands like WeMo, Philips Hue, SmartThings and Ecobee, so you can ask Alexa to show you the front door, dim the lights in the living room and set the temperature upstairs to 70 degrees.
Additionally, you can make video calls too. 'Alexa call’as Amazon calls it, lets you call other Echo devices. It can be used to call Smartphone's having the Alexa app in it. Imagine you want to check on your old Grandmother upstairs and there is an Echo device there. All you have to do is say the magic word and presto, you can check on her anytime from anywhere!
The Echo Show comes with a 7-inch display, a 5-megapixel front facing camera, an Intel Atom x5-Z8350 processor, dual-band 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi support, dual 2-inch stereo speakers, and physical buttons for volume control as well as a button to turn the microphones and camera on and off.
The Echo show is priced at $230 and is available for pre-booking. The shipping will begin on June 28. You can also save $100 if you buy 2 Echo Show devices together due to an introductory offer by Amazon. By the looks of things, the vision of a smart home is very much within grasp!
