CIO Bulletin
Organizations are rapidly transitioning their workloads and data to the cloud. While cloud service providers and cloud data platforms offer virtually unlimited capacity, budget constraints are a reality for most organizations.
Unfortunately, many organizations make cloud-related decisions without evaluating options and their impact on performance and cost.
CIOs need technology that considers business workloads characteristics and service level requirements while evaluating performance and financial options.
With that said, we’re thrilled to present BEZNext and its automated cloud performance and financial optimization technology.
By incorporating observation, modeling and control functions, BEZNext relies on a deep level of the business workloads characterization. It predicts the minimum configuration, change in resource allocation, tuning, and budget needed to continuously meet Service Level Goals (SLGs) for all business workloads on all cloud platforms. The control function compares the actual performance and financial results with the predicted. If results are significantly different, the control function develops corrective recommendations.
BEZNext was established in 2011.
CIO Bulletin reached out to Dr. Boris Zibitsker, Founder and CEO of BEZNext, and here’s what he had to say.
Interview Highlights
Q. What inspired the creation of BEZNext?
Many organizations face performance and financial challenges as they begin their transition to the cloud. I founded BEZNext to address these challenges. Our software leverages our expertise in Data Warehouse and Big Data, performance modeling and optimization to reduce the risk of performance and financial surprises for organizations migrating to the cloud.
Tell us in brief about your modeling and optimization technology.
Our technology evaluates cloud options, answers what-ifs, and provides actionable recommendations. We use Machine Learning models for anomaly detection, ChatGPT for determining options, and Queueing Network Models for performance predictions. The optimization algorithms analyze all cloud migration options and find the minimum configuration and budget needed to meet SLGs.
Q. Organizations in different industries face the challenges of migrating applications and data to the cloud environment. How do your solutions address this concern?
BEZNext incorporates observation, modeling, and control functions to optimize cloud performance and financial decisions during the journey to the Hybrid Multi-Cloud.
Modeling assists with selecting the appropriate cloud data platform by determining the minimum configuration and budget needed to meet an organization’s service level goals. It takes into consideration different cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, Vantage, Big Query, and Databriks and different cloud service providers, like AWS, Azure, GCP. It recommends tuning and resource allocation changes to organize dynamic capacity management and optimize cloud migration and DevOps decisions.
It automates the comparison of the actual performance and financial results with the predicted. If results are significantly different, it develops corrective recommendations and organizes the continuous performance and FinOps control of the Hybrid Multi-Cloud environment.
Cloud performance and cost control in a complex Hybrid Multi-Cloud world address common concerns for organizations across all industries. How does your solution make performance and financial governance more convenient and cost-effective?
We make performance and financial governance more convenient by automating many functions of data collection, workload characterization, workload seasonality determination, performance and financial anomalies and root cause detection. Our modeling and optimization technology estimates the carbon footprint for all business workloads on all cloud platforms. It optimizes DevOps decisions before new applications deployment and dynamic capacity management of the production environment.
After the implementation of our recommendations, the actual performance and financial measurement results are automatically compared with the expected. This enables the organizing of continuous closed-loop performance and financial control.
Overall, BEZNext technology reduces uncertainty and risk of performance and financial surprises and fosters better collaboration between business, financial, and IT leaders. Our vendor-neutral technology enables organizations to effectively manage their cloud spending and optimize resource allocation, which leads to improved performance and reduced cost in hybrid multi-cloud environments.
Q. What does the future hold for your company and its customers? Are exciting things on the way?
The exponential growth of analytic applications using cloud services makes managing a complex Hybrid Multi-Cloud world more challenging. At BEZNext, we want to automate many routine tasks and empower in-house teams to be able to manage, maintain, and most importantly reduce the cost of running their cloud operations.
In addition to software and services, we now offer hands-on virtual workshops. This four-week course covers observability, problem determination, and modeling and optimization. It’s tailored to customers’ environments and provides them with the tools to effectively manage cloud workloads with acceptable performance and the lowest costs.
