Louis Vuitton’s ‘Voyager’ traveling exhibition in Shanghai showcased its pre-fall collection, featuring boxy leather vests and asymmetric hemlines, attracting over a thousand guests.
One of the brand's main markets, Shanghai, hosted the debut of Louis Vuitton’s newly renamed ‘Voyager’ traveling exhibition on Thursday night. The display featured boxy leather vests and asymmetric hemlines. Women’s artistic director Nicolas Ghesquière’s pre-fall collection was seen by over a thousand guests, including local and international superstars like Zhou Dongyu and Jackson Wang. The exhibition took place in the expansive concrete space of the Long Museum, created by Atelier Deshaus, located in the art neighborhood of West Bund by the river.
The exhibition featured works by Beijing-based artist Sun Yitian, who paints blown-up plastic animals. Her work was reprinted and included in the opening designs, and images of her art were displayed throughout Shanghai, China’s cosmopolitan city, before the exhibition. China continues to be a significant global luxury brand, with Louis Vuitton, the largest luxury brand in LVMH, opening a new tab stable, despite economic recession and consumer apathy hindering growth. The new tab stable is painted on walls and projected onto shopping centers.
LVMH reported on Tuesday that while Chinese consumers’ purchases worldwide increased by 10%, organic sales for the quarter ended in March increased by 3% year over year. Pharell Williams, the head of Louis Vuitton’s men’s wear brand, organized a grand exhibition in Hong Kong last year.
