Logix BPO—understanding businesses and cultivating strategic frameworks that enable growth and success

What’s most challenging about leading organizations today? And do these leadership challenges differ around the world?

Being a leader is not quite a cakewalk. To be very honest; managing people is one of the most challenging tasks. You need to extract the best out of your team members and handhold them even in the worst situations. We all want to lead a team, but have we ever realized what the challenges faced by a leader are? Remember, a leader is just like the captain of a ship. One wrong decision and the entire blame comes on you.

However, some people, very few people successfully overcome all the challenges posed by the growing responsibilities and showcase their leadership to shine through and help their organization achieve ever-lasting success.

Recently, CIO Bulletin spoke to Anthony Godley, CEO of Logix BPO, and one such remarkable successful business leader on a wide range of topics including the role of a CEO, the challenges he faces as a CEO, the responsibilities of managing a company, and a team, and more.

The following excerpts are taken from the conversation with Anthony Godley, CEO of Logix BPO

Q. What inspired you to choose this path in business?

Many countries around the world are facing skill shortages. These skill shortages have been exacerbated since COVID-19, and while the world entered a state of “Great Rehire” in 2022, economies continue to struggle with their recovery, in part due to these skill shortages.

My home country, England, is one of these economies. Many businesses are looking to hire talented individuals but struggling to find the right resources. The solution is not new, but the need has been amplified. It was that need that fueled the creation of Logix BPO. England and many other countries around the world need skilled and talented resources for the businesses that make up their economies; the Philippines has those talents and skill sets, and whilst there always will be the obvious lure of cost reduction, it is the skill, determination, and loyalty of the Philippine workforce that makes it such an attractive proposition for global remote team development.

I have been traveling to and working within the Philippines for over 10 years and have had many firsthand experiences of the extraordinary talents and skill sets available across the country.

Q. If you had the chance, what’s one thing you would do to improve the service provided by your company?

Logix BPO is already quite a complete business. We have strong foundations, excellent leadership teams, and an outsourcing model which can rival any competitors in the world. However, we are of course continuously evolving as a business; and learning as we evolve. Through these evolutions, we decided to create a university, a series of training modules that allow graduates to access the excellent jobs we bring to the Philippines; jobs that were otherwise out of reach and reserved only for skilled and experienced people.

Our BPO & RPO University will operate across Recruitment, Finance, Digital, and Real Estate, and through a series of comprehensive and intense training modules, give talented graduates all the tools and knowledge they need to join our teams and deliver exceptional levels of service to our customers.

Q. What do you have to say to someone just starting as an entrepreneur?

There is a very apt speech, which was made by Raymond Kroc; the man who purchased and ultimately build the McDonald’s brand into what it is today,“One word... PERSISTENCE. Nothing in this world can take the place of good old persistence. Talent won't. Nothing's more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius won't. Unrecognized genius is practically a cliché. Education won't. Why the world is full of educated fools—Persistence and determination alone are all-powerful.”

Persistence is the word I would use to help any entrepreneur just starting a new business. It is arguably the single most valuable characteristic in my locker…Persistence.

Q. How do you feel traits like empathy and vulnerability play a role in your leadership?

Empathy resonates with me. We are very empathetic as a culture, which is partly the reason why there is such a strong sense of family between the teams at Logix. Team members have absolute trust in the leadership team and know they can come to us to discuss difficult topics and no judgment will be made.

As a business leader, I feel it is important to have the ability to understand and share the feelings of others. In part, empathy has fueled our outreach programs which form part of our Giving Back activities. Through giving back, we access the poorest communities in the Philippines, Orphanages, and Animal Sanctuaries and sponsor all kinds of different activities such as food programs, days out, and gifts.

Q. How important is it to have a healthy work culture at the workplace?

The culture at Logix is one of the things I am most proud of. When I created Logix, I had a culture in mind. I asked myself, “how can we create a business that people want to work for. That promotes work-life balance and ensures a high retention rate of staff”.

Logix BPO breeds highly motivated employees across the entire organization by making sure we only hire individuals who value our core principles. If we can cultivate a team who integrates honesty and a growth mindset in their daily lives, we will surely prosper together, and it was this mindset that enables us to develop the supportive and rewarding culture we have today.

Q. What does the road ahead look like for Logix BPO? What are your long-term ambitions?

Logix BPO will continue to grow, and expand across the Philippines. We plan to invest in new remote teams in both South Africa and Romania. We expect to hire between 200 and 300 new full-time staff in 2023.

We aim to be one of the world's most reputable RPO service providers.
