A Top-Rated Mobile Trust Platform for Enterprise Security: SyncDog, Inc.

A Top-Rated Mobile Trust Platform for Enterprise Security: SyncDog, Inc.

“We are continuously on the forefront of offering new approaches and technology, more advanced security, and greater usability. Our business is to be a disrupter to the current state of mobile security.”

Security and IT teams realize the vulnerabilities of the standard approaches to mobility. Finance teams realize the heavy costs of buying, provisioning, maintaining, and recouping mobile devices and data plans for employees. HR, Legal, and Compliance teams understand the need to protect the company data being accessed, the need to prove how, when and by whom that data is being utilized, and the need to prove that the company isn’t overreaching when it comes to personal privacy. Most importantly, the employees themselves are realizing that they can get their jobs done no matter where they are, no matter what device(s) they have on hand, and that their personal device can be safely used for work and private matters without concern of the two overlapping.

With that said, we’re pleased to present SyncDog, Inc. — the leading ISV (independent software vendor) for building mobile endpoint frameworks that extend app functionality to devices while securing corporate and government networks.

SyncDog saw the opportunity to be a ‘disrupter’ in the mobility space and set out from day one to make a difference. Just like Amazon focused on creating a better user experience for the shopper, and just like Uber realized that the taxi industry focused more on the cab company than it did the rider, SyncDog realized that the mobility industry focused more on preventative measures than it did on further enabling mobile users – securely. The SyncDog mission begins there.

To highlight and further understand what SyncDog, Inc. stands for and seeks to explore in this segment, let’s study what Jonas Gyllensvaan (Founder & CEO) said about the company when he was previously interviewed by CIO Bulletin. Mr. Gyllensvaan vividly spoke about how the company is transforming the industry it serves. Today, I will focus on the same concept based on the inputs we previously recorded. Below is an excerpt.

“From day one, we started building a solution that brought more functionality to mobile devices, allowed greater access to data, and removed the need for intrusive components to be installed on the devices that impose on the device owners’ privacy. And most importantly, offers the IT and security teams granular control of who can access company or government data, when they access it, what can be done with it when they do, and full logging of that information for reporting and auditing of that information. The build-out was complex and took some time, but now that product is in the market, the response has been extremely positive.”

Tackling Real-World Problems

SyncDog’s primary goal from the onset was to offer a highly secure solution that truly focuses on further enabling the mobile worker. Traditional device-centric security approaches, like MDM/EMM, aim to limit access and control usage, which almost universally inhibits the end-users from having the data they need to get the job done. The company’s Data-Centric approach uses FIPS 140-2 Certified 256-bit encryption to ensure corporate data is always protected – in transit, in use, and at rest. SyncDog’s Trusted Mobile Workspace creates a second persona on any device that completely separates personal-use data and applications from corporate- or government-use data. This enables the employer to allow wider access to email, data, and files, while at the same time, offering full tracking and auditability of that access.

Needless to say, SyncDog is disrupting the mobile security space. As noted above, MDM/EMM, AV, MTD, and MAM solutions are all limited or flawed in design. True “Container” solutions share a similar approach but are limited by offering only a small amount of functionality within the container or are limited to a single device manufacturer or are limited by a poor user experience that deters interest in the solutions – or worse, they require that data and crypto keys to be controlled by the vendor at various points of the data flow process. SyncDog is the only “Trusted Mobile Workspace (TMW)” that fully encrypts the data at rest, in transit, and use while giving the end-user/customer complete end-to-end control and auditability of the data and crypto keys. Besides, SyncDog’s TMW goes well beyond offering just email and PIM functionality to the end-user. It also offers additional productivity apps like file share/sync (OneDrive, Box, DropBox), Microsoft O365 document edit (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, .PDF) capability, secure browsing, location services, image storage (fully isolated pictures and videos from personal images, etc.), anti-virus and mobile threat defense capability and much more. All within a single install, a single sign-on solution that is easy to use and easy to navigate.
