50 Most Influential Companies of the Year 2021
CIO Bulletin
For professionals intent on moving up within their organization, or who find themselves suddenly in a position of authority over others, it’s not uncommon to wonder whether leadership training in the form of a course or workshop could be beneficial to their career. The answer to that question is a resounding “yes.”
While many people claim they are “natural born leaders,” leadership skills can be learned. With enough discipline, understanding, and practice, anyone can become an effective leader within their business or organization.
We introduce you to Personify Leadership which is a global experiential-based leadership development company that provides comprehensive development for leaders. This includes both virtual as well as instructor-lead programs. All programs are derived from our eight-core body-focused competency model. We believe that all leaders are born with the capacity to access these competencies within them through a five-method approach that includes, experiential activities, personal reflection, case studies, group discussion and video demonstration. We teach leaders to Personify Leadership.

Q. What is the most difficult part of being a leader?
All of leadership is difficult, but what comes harder for me than say another leader is relative. I tend to find the Voice of the leader, sending a message that resonates with others, more natural but I find the Mind of a Leader, emotional resilience, much more challenging. For you, it could be the other way around. What’s most important is that a leader understands what is challenging for them and find ways to develop enough competence in that challenging area so that competency does not overshadow their natural strengths as a leader.
Q. How do you measure success as a leader?
We measure leadership success based on a leader’s ability to make tangible change that’s evident to those around her regardless of if that is a big sweeping change or incremental.
Q. Why was Personify Leadership built?
Personify Leadership was a labor of love and passion created by my business partner, Michelle Cummings, and myself to reach thousands of leaders worldwide with a program that spoke to the very nature of leadership; being human.
Leadership has many facets and, well, it takes all you’ve got which is why our model is perfect. It defines each core competency in the language of body parts, which is universal and easy to understand.
Q. Is Personify Leadership consistent with its strategy?
Our strategy has always been delivering our program to as many leaders possible in as many countries possible through highly skilled facilitation. This has not changed. However, how we engage the marketplace has evolved as the needs of the marketplace has evolved. Since COVID, the virtual space has become a much more sought-after platform for delivery. Also, as news of Personify Leadership spreads the globe, the way in which we deliver our program changes based on localization requirements. These types of changes are typical of a growing international company
Q. How do you provide leadership training on a large scale?
To reach the thousands of leaders we hope to continue to reach, Personify Leadership certifies facilitators from around the world to deliver our program to their companies and their clients. We also have partnerships with well-known and respected leadership development companies in China, India, Egypt, and South America.
Q. What are the key factors of Train the Trainer?
The train the trainer provides a facilitator with the knowledge, skills, and ability to deliver our program with expertise. We also provide online tools and resources that allow our trained facilitators to continue expanding and customizing Personify Leadership in their organizations beyond the fundamentals of our core program. This provides organizations the ability to leverage our model and tools far beyond the initial program launch.
Q. What are your distinct programs and how do they help in developing effective leadership?
Our core program is our two day “Personify Leadership” Program that focuses on the eight core competencies of effective leadership: The Heart, The Mind, The Ears, The Voice, The Hands, The Feet, The Spine and The Eyes of a Leader. We also have our deeper dive programs that are self-paced, virtual and instructor led that continue to build on the core Personify Leadership program. All our programs are designed with five methods of delivery: experiential learning, videos, case studies, personal reflection, and group discussion.
Q. How does The Courageous Leader™ program change the mindset of meek leaders?
I don’t believe leaders are meek, I believe they believe in the myth that courageous leadership is reserved for the navy seals of leadership. That, however, is not true. At Personify Leadership in the Spine of a Leader and our deeper dive program, “The Courageous Leader,” we teach leaders that courage is a muscle and with routine practice, they can learn to do the heavy lifting of leadership just like anyone else they admire for this quality.
