 US’ public sector practice

Guidehouse, a management consultancy and a portfolio firm of Veritas Capital based in Tysons Corner, VA, has acquired the public sector practice of Grant Thornton US.

The acquisition continues Guidehouse’s steady growth trajectory. The consultancy’s journey started in 2018 when Veritas Capital purchased the public sector practice of PwC US. In 2019, Veritas acquired management consultancy Navigant to make it a part of the rebranded Guidehouse, adding a significant global footprint and capabilities in serving heavily regulated commercial industries.

Grant Thornton’s public sector practice has over 480 employees in the Washington DC area and other US cities, according to LinkedIn. The practice provides state, federal, and local governments with solutions in human-capital management, finance, information technology, data analytics, and performance management.

Last year, the practice won a $350-million consulting contract with the TSA.

Grant Thornton’s CEO, Seth Seigel, said the firm’s divestiture of its Public Sector Advisory practice was well aligned with its strategy. It would enhance the firm value to clients by sharpening the firm’s focus on its integrated offerings across Tax, Audit, and Advisory services.

Additionally, through the divestiture, Grant Thornton further enhances its capital position, strengthens the firm’s quality-focused market position, and creates compelling opportunities for its colleagues.

The transaction is expected to close in the second half of 2022.
