Google is introducing AI-powered photo editing tools, including Magic Eraser and Photo Unblur, to all Google Photos users starting May 15, accessible on Android, iOS, and Chromebook.
Coming soon to all Google Photos users, Google is giving away its AI-powered photo editing capabilities for free. Google Photos users on Android, iOS, and Chromebooks will have access to Magic Eraser, Photo Unblur, Portrait Light, and even the generative AI-powered Magic Editor.
These capabilities were previously exclusive to Pixel phone owners and those prepared to pay for a Google One subscription, but as of May 15, everyone will have access to them. There are a few catches, though.
To use Google Photos on an iPhone, ensure it has at least iOS 15 or Android 8.0 or later, and has ChromeOS version 118+ installed if using a Chromebook. Additionally, a minimum of 4GB of RAM is required for any device using Google Photos.
For those who are not Pixel users, Magic Eraser and Portrait Lighting are already accessible. Nevertheless, a Google One subscription was required for these capabilities; it is no longer required. Since its debut with the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro in 2022, Photo Unblur has only been available on Pixel phones. Tensor G2 (or G3) chip required for the feature, according to Google, is now no longer required as it is being made accessible for free to everyone.
