According to the streaming giant, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's new Netflix show aimed at the British royal family broke records.
According to Netflix Inc., the documentary "Harry & Meghan" received more viewers during its first week than any other on the service.
Although the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had influence over the storylines, including one that highlighted the royal family's connections to slavery, the company described the program as a documentary series.
According to Netflix, the program saw nearly 81.6 million viewing hours in the days following its December 8, 2022, debut. In its first four days, the show's first three episodes were watched by more than 28 million households, it claimed. The couple's highly anticipated and aggressively promoted first Netflix production debuted at the top of the charts in the UK and Ireland but fell elsewhere. In the US, it ranked No. 2.
Streaming platforms are keeping a close eye on their spending in light of the industry's slowing subscriber growth and increased competition. Netflix is concentrating on ensuring that the content it does produce generates high engagement among its 223 million global subscribers after experiencing subscriber decline for the previous two quarters.
