Kiss, a hard rock group, has sold its intellectual property, brand name, and library to Swedish company Pophouse Entertainment Group for an estimated $300 million.
For Kiss, the journey never really ends. It was announced on Thursday that the hard rock quartet had sold its IP, brand name, and library to Pophouse Entertainment Group in Sweden for an estimated sum of over $300 million.
Kiss has previously collaborated with Pophouse, which Björn Ulvaeus of ABBA co-founded. The band's current lineup, which includes drummer Eric Singer, guitarist Tommy Thayer, and founders Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons, took the stage at Madison Square Garden in New York City on the last night of their farewell tour in December. They concluded by revealing digital avatars of themselves.
Industrial Light & Magic, a special effects team from George Lucas, has collaborated with Pophouse on the "ABBA Voyage" exhibition in London. Fans can now experience a concert by the Swedish band in their prime using their digital avatars. Pophouse CEO Per Sundin predicts a biopic, documentary, and Kiss experience in the future.
The second half of 2027 will see the debut of an avatar program, but Sundin told the media that it won't resemble "ABBA Voyage" in the slightest. Fans can anticipate that it will begin in North America. According to Sundin, the purchase's objective is to introduce Kiss to a new generation of fans, which, in his opinion, distinguishes Pophouse from previous music catalog acquisitions.
