Twitter gets a new CEO, as Elon Musk steps down

Elon Musk, owner of Twitter steps down as CEO of the company, announcing a woman taking over in 6 weeks.

After a controversial year of buying twitter for a whopping $44 billion, Elon Musk has seemingly announced that he is about to step down as CEO and let a woman take over. As the Wall Street Journal reported, Linda Yaccarino, an NBC Universal executive is in talks with the company to become the next chief executive officer for Twitter.

Elon Musk the owner of Twitter announced the news through a tweet, saying “I’ve hired a new CEO for X/Twitter.” He further added, “My role will transition to being exec chair & CTO, overseeing product, software & sysops.”

The announcement on Thursday did not specify who will take over as CEO, but only happened to mention that it would be a female, starting in 6 weeks’ time. However, Yaccarino, currently the chair person for global advertising and partnerships at NBC Universal Media, who the internet believes is to take over, was not available to comment.

Musk who bought Twitter last October, has been in the news ever since, due to the many changes and abrupt issues that have come up since his ownership and leadership in the company. The next CEO will have to attend to the fallout from the previously mentioned disputes, as well as the 50% loss in revenue due to the massive deterioration in advertising.
