Facebook had rolled out its Stories features earlier this year. However, it could be accessed only on the users mobile. Now that’s about to change with the new announcement that Facebook made. Facebook Stories are now available on desktop as well, the company announced.
The Stories feature has been Instagram and Snapchat’s favorite so far. And most recently, Instagram’s Stories are most used when compared with Snapchat’s. But we need to remember that it was Facebook that added the Stories feature into Instagram in the first place. Currently, the desktop version of Facebook Stories is still in testing.
“We can confirm that we’re testing the ability to view Facebook Stories on the web version of Facebook with a small percentage of people globally, and we hope to roll it out more widely soon-no exact details on timing for that quite yet,” said a Facebook spokesperson.
Placed Stories
If you’re using Facebook on your desktop, you will see that the Stories are placed on the side of the News Feed. This position it slightly more out of the way, when compared to the Stories on your mobile app. In the mobile app, the Stories appear right on top when opened. This could also mean that Facebook is acknowledging that Stories aren’t that popular as very few people use this feature. It could even mean a move from Facebook to move ahead from Stories too.
Moreover, Facebook has already popularized Stories on Instagram and Whatsapp too. On Whatsapp, it is simply called status, which is very much Stories-like. And it is just not Facebook spreading Stories-like features. Similar features are present on Tinder, Skype, Match and others. Thus, it looks like the Stories are well placed.
