MediaTek has unveiled its first Dimensity Auto Cockpit SoCs at Nvidia's GPU Technology Conference. The devices, ranging from entry-level to premium, feature Arm V9-A CPU cores, an HDR ISP, a multi-audio DSP, support for multiple cameras, AI processing capabilities, and an Nvidia RTX GPU. These devices cater to various in-vehicle experiences. Furthermore, Nvidia's Drive OS software platform will be supported by the platform. The business claims that the latest graphics capabilities and generative AI applications, together with support for different cameras, displays, and audio formats, will make using the new SoCs safe and enjoyable. The products' announcement alone foreshadows important industry milestones, despite the limited technical details available at this time.
Initially, the news indicates that the alliance is making good work toward its goal of creating a line of products with a chiplet technique in less than a year after it was first announced. Although chiplets are becoming the norm for high-end CPUs and accelerators, this is significant for embedded/Internet of Things applications that are more widely used. However, Tirias Research predicts that as the UCIe chiplet standards are adopted, testing standards for chiplets are established between semiconductor foundries, and volume production lowers the cost of the packaging, the use of chiplets will become more widespread across these types of applications toward the end of the decade.
