The OpenStack Foundation announced the release of StarlingX software; it is the best platform for IoT and edge computing. StarlingX is capable for node configuration in distant edge environments, software updates, and host and service management. The users will be intimated about the faults in the network or the host.
This platform is best suited for carrier networking and industrial IT. Jonathan Bryce, executive director of the OpenStack Foundation said, “When it comes to edge, it is crucial to be able to blend together and manage all the virtual machine and container-based workloads and underlying bare metal environment. This is exactly what you get with StarlingX.”
OpenStack is widely used open source infrastructure software which has the capacity to run innumerable private and public cloud deployments across approximately 10 million physical CPU cores. Approximately 50 official projects related to cloud platform are supported by the OpenStack foundation. Users can pick modules of their choice.
Dr. Dan Chen, senior director of Edge Computing at the Intelligent Network Center, China Unicom said that StarlingX is efficient and highly available in VM’s and the controller level. It also helped in optimizing the necessary amount of nodes to back edge computing. StarlingX will play an important role in China Unicom edge strategy.
