The confidence of the Adani Group to purchase the largest deep-water port in the nation remains unaffected by the escalating conflict between Israel and Hamas.
The oldest son of the group's founder, Karan Adani, 36, is in charge of Adani's port division, and he stated that the $1.2 billion investment made at the Port of Haifa last year took the reputation of the conflict-ridden area into consideration.
Amidst the terrorist group's deadly attack this month, Israel has begun bombarding the Gaza Strip, which is under Hamas control, raising concerns about a potential regional conflict.
Adani stated that the entire Haifa Port had been planned with this kind of scenario in mind during an interview conducted prior to the opening of a new container port in Kerala, on the southwest coast of India. This was not the first time that something like this came to pass. Adani continued, "The entire port's security features have been designed keeping in mind such events," without providing further details.
Adani always considers political risks before making any overseas investments, he continued. The company wants to overtake all other port operators in the world by 2030 and nearly triple its cargo volume to 1 billion metric tons.
Adani stated that after examining their risk factors, they were extremely certain that, in the end, even in the wake of this incident, Israel's economy, commerce with other countries, and political stability would remain unaffected. Adani continued, expressing their confidence in their investment because they had adopted a long-term perspective given that these assets came with concessions that would last for thirty or forty years. The company's conviction remained the same after taking a 30- to 40-year view.
