7-Eleven is introducing self-checkout feature in selected stores. The rollout is being called Scan & Pay by the Japanese-American retailer. The pilot program will test the feature that will help customers skip checkout queues by making the payment through the 7-Eleven app.
The pilot is being tried out in 14 of 7-Eleven outlets in the Dallas area. The Scan & Pay option will work for both Android and iOS devices and will be available for all the merchandise at the 7-Eleven barring a few items such as hot foods, alcohol, tobacco, lottery tickets, financial services and age-verified products- which require cashier’s assistance.
Customers can now use their smartphones to scan and pay and get on with their day after they shop. This shopping experience is also integrated with the retailer’s 7Rewards loyalty program. This will let the customers earn “7Rewards points upon purchase redeem points to purchase applicable products, as well as receive all in-store promotions.”
If you cannot see the Scan & Pay option you can just update the app to its latest version of the app through the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store. To be able to use this feature, customers will have to be within the geo-fenced area of one of these 14 stores- the feature is available at.
