The world’s largest retailer in art and wall decor, Art.com is being bought out by Walmart. The art retailer is widely known for its more two million plus curated images; which will also enhance the customer experience in Walmart’s home category and help grow its assortment.
Art.com has an impressively wide range of assortment that ranges from simple, affordable posters for apartments to limited edition prints and art pieces that can enrich your living space. After the acquisition is completed Walmart plans to use Art.com’s assets as a standalone and complimentary site and eventually add their assortments to Walmart.com, Hayneedle.com, and Jet.com.
In its post, Walmart wrote: “This announcement is just another example of how we’re establishing Walmart.com as a specialty retail destination for the home – giving customers the inspiration and confidence to make a beautiful home possible for everyone.”
The move will help Walmart add a lot of millennials to its customer base since a huge number of Art.com’s customers come from this age group. In addition, this will also allow the retail giant to compete with Amazon which has been in specialty retail for some time now.
