IBM has announced that it has joined the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD). By joining the organization, IBM has extended its leadership in sustainable development.
IBM is one of the foremost organizations of the world that develops innovative ways to solve environmental problems. Its solutions have leveraged the best information technologies of today including automation, analytics, AI, IoT, and blockchain. These solutions have helped in waste management, energy conservation, renewable electricity and reducing carbon dioxide emissions.
WBCSD President and CEO Peter Bakker said: “WBCSD is pleased to welcome IBM to our network of forward-thinking companies. From artificial intelligence to quantum computing, technology is a critical enabler of the systems transformation that we need to ensure a stable and healthy world for all. We congratulate IBM for taking an active role in shaping the future for the benefit of people and our planet.”
Joining WBCSD’s network will help IBM to continue its work in this space in collaboration with partners who share similar interests. The company is looking to contribute to WBCSD’s Food & Nature program and Climate & Energy program. It will contribute to these programs by providing its expertise in the matters of AI to create sustainable solutions.
