100% Renewable Energy by 2021: T-Mobile

Renewable energy is something that is very much required in the disastrous environment we live in today. Taking a step towards renewable energy is T-Mobile, by making a pledge that commits to 100 percent renewable electricity by 2021. T-Mobile also joined RE100, the global initiative of companies that have full renewable energy as a stated goal.

Through a new wind power farm in Kansas, the mobile networking company is going to support its new pledge. The new farm, along with the already established farm in Oklahoma will be two renewable energy sources from T-Mobile. These farms together will provide about 60 percent of T-Mobile’s power.

A First of Many

In a press release statement, T-Mobile said, “To reach 100%, T-Mobile will buy enough wind power annually to account for every unit of electricity the company consumes.” This makes T-Mobile the first US wireless carrier to join RE100 and commit completely to green energy.

While AT&T is also working towards saving the environment by reducing its electricity consumption, it’s also working on increasing renewable options. On the other hand, Verizon is also working towards saving the earth. Verizon is focused on reducing its carbon footprint and is also investing in environmental energy production. However, Sprint isn’t anywhere close to this. There simply isn’t any policy on Sprint’s website that concerns the environment.
