Microsoft has announced the general availability of the new Azure VMware Solution for organizations to maintain existing VMware skills, operational processes, running VMware Cloud Foundation technologies, and use Azure simultaneously.
The general availability of the solution means that the customers will now be able to extend and migrate VMware workloads to the cloud seamlessly. Microsoft made the solution generally available owing to the great demand after it had launched a preview of the solution earlier.
The Azure VMware solution built in partnership with VMware combines the best of VMware’s cloud tech and Microsoft tech. It is a fast path to the cloud for enterprises. To bring this solution, both Microsoft and VMware worked together on providing a simple unified Azure portal experience, and seamless access to Azure resources. Their teams also worked together to deliver new functionality to run VMware Cloud Foundation technologies including vSphere, HCX, NSX-T, and vSAN. The solution is also supported by Azure Migrate.
“We know from our customer conversations that organizations need time to develop cloud competencies within the organization. Azure VMware Solution gets you to the cloud quickly, maintaining consistency in the VMware tools and operations that you have, and growing cloud skills over time,” said Microsoft in a statement.
Azure VMware Solution supports Azure Hybrid Benefits for customers to bring their existing Microsoft workloads that are running on-prem in a cost-effective way. Azure VMware Solution customers are also eligible for three years of free Extended Security Updates on 2008 versions of Windows Server and SQL Server.
