Titan Security Key can enhance your online security

Google’s Cloud Next ’18 meet unveils Titan Security Key, a physical device that can be used to greatly improve your online security. The Key features a custom firmware developed by Google which will verify the physical key’s integrity. The Security Key will be available in both USB as well as NFC/Bluetooth options.

In the recent years, high profile companies like eBay, Yahoo, Adobe, JP Morgan Chase, and many others were attacked via various ways online. Google, one of the prime targets for online hackers, required a security solution that cannot be compromised easily. And physical security keys are the answer to the problem, believes the company.

“We’ve long advocated the use of security keys as the strongest, most phishing-resistant authentication factor for high-value users, especially cloud admins, to protect against the potentially damaging consequences of credential theft,” said Google during the announcement.

Physical security keys aren’t new. There have been companies like Yubico, Feitian and others who support various authentication products like the FIDO, U2F, FIDO2 and more.

The Keys, both USB and NFC/Bluetooth sets, will be out for sale for all in Google online stores within the next few months and is estimated to be priced at $20-$25 for each. However, the products are readily available for admins and other high-value Google Cloud users.
