Hyundai has unveiled its latest concept car called the TIGER X-1. The TIGER stands for Transforming Intelligent Ground Excursion Robot. It is being developed by Hyundai's Silicon Valley-based New Horizon Studio and Autodesk, a California engineering design software company. New Horizon explores vehicles that use robotics for customers who need to travel in unconventional off-road terrain.
The concept car has insane moving capabilities, which make it ideal for 360-degree surface evaluation in areas struck by a natural disaster while tackling challenging terrain or even exploring the surface of another moon or planet. The car is driverless due to its small size. However, Huawei says the production version will be much more extensiveandwill accommodate passengers.
The TIGER runs on battery and could also be operated remotely for emergency services like delivering medical or relief supplies to the calamity hit places or anything extreme like that. It can drive on four wheels like a normal "car," but when encountered with sticky terrain, the tires will "articulate," enabling the vehicle to "walk."
The vehicle is based on a modular architecture, featuring a sophisticated leg and wheel system, 360-degree directional control, and a range of sensors for remote operation. It is also capable of connecting to unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), which can fully charge and deliver Tiger to inaccessible locations. The concept car is still in the development phase. Huawei says it will focus on perfecting the tech aspect before marketing. The company hopes to test the beta version thoroughly and aiming to launch the product in five years.
