After quite a long time, here comes the first major integration between Amazon and its acquired Whole Foods. Groceries from Whole Foods is added to Amazon Prime Now for high-speed delivery service in four markets, which are Dallas, Virginia Beach, Cincinnati, and Austin – Austin being the head office of Whole Foods.
This means Amazon Prime members can order groceries for delivery within one or two hours. However, Amazon will charge you for one-hour delivery at $7.99 on orders above $35, while two-hour delivery is free of cost.
Organic and Fresh
The list of goods available from Whole Foods on a Prime Now include fresh and organic produce, bakery, dairy, meat and seafood, floral, and everyday staples along with a range of “selected alcohol,” a press release said. “Amazon plans to offer the service in more markets, although there's no official timeframe yet,” said Prime Now VP Stephenie Landry.
Ever since Amazon acquired Whole Foods for $13.7 billion last year, Amazon has been selling Echo speakers at Whole Food chains. Also, it cut down the in-store price for Prime members. Even then, this has been the most significant statement Amazon has made regarding Whole Foods so far.
