Balance by Nature: An award-winning corporate health & wellness consulting firm

Changing our behavior is ultimately up to each of us as individuals. However, employers have a tremendous opportunity to help their employees see the value of adopting healthier behaviors so that they can live healthier lives.

A workplace culture sets the tone for its employees. A supportive work environment, where managers reinforce a sound wellness strategy, can keep employees motivated and engaged. Wellness and incentive programs can be used to drive and reinforce healthy behaviors, bringing benefits to the employer, the employee, and to the community.

We introduce you to Balance by Nature whose mission is to inspire employees to create small healthy changes in their daily routines to improve their health outcomes, overall well-being, job satisfaction and productivity. Its online Wellness for Remote Workers program and onsite wellness classes provide a combination of stress reduction strategies, mindset training, fitness opportunities, nutrition education, health education and disease prevention.

The firm’s values: - “We believe in inspiring and motivating people to be their very best. - We believe that successful business partnerships begin with honesty and integrity. - We believe that if you take care of your people they will take care of you. - We believe in providing opportunities to grow personally and professionally. - We believe in giving back to our communities. - We believe in being the change we wish to see in the world.”

Why was Balance by Nature born? Kindly enlighten us about the firm’s transformation.

Prior to launching Balance by Nature in 2012, I spent my career in the corporate world, working my way up the ladder at a global firm. I loved what I did, but there was a lot of stress and intensity in the role which was manageable for many years. When my father fell ill from cancer, it all came crashing down. The stress hitting me from all sides eventually started making me sick. For me, the stress manifested in my digestive system and I developed bleeding ulcers. When you do not feel well, it makes everything in your life so much harder.Of course, I had no time to slow down, so I kept going, burning the candle from both ends, until the condition deteriorated to the point that I had to take time off work. As soon as I removed myself from a large source of stress and focused more on my own self-care, the most miraculous thing happened… all my symptoms disappeared! That was my “Aha!” moment where I realized that you could exercise and eat healthy, but if you have so much stress in your life, none of the rest even matters. I realized that my story was not unique, as busy professionals everywhere were also suffering from stress related conditions – such as digestive issues, migraines, insomnia, anxiety, depression, weight gain, autoimmune conditions, high blood pressure, etc. - without even realizing that stress is truly the underlying culprit.

How do you help your clients build a workforce of happier and healthier employees?

It is no surprise that happier, healthier employees are more dedicated, focused, and productive. At the same time, we understand the tremendous mental and emotional tolls that most people have been experiencing due to the global health pandemic, and the multitude of ways in which they feel stretched thin and overwhelmed. In order to help our clients build a workforce of happier and healthier employees, it is essential to provide a holistic wellness strategy that addresses the range of challenging issues their staff are facing.

Balance by Nature curates wellness experiences that support physical, mental, emotional, social, and financial well-being. We believe that bringing these life elements into balance yields greater health, happiness, and fulfillment.

Throw light on your fitness programs and stress reduction workshops.

We understand that it is hard to maintain a healthy lifestyle while working from home and not being able to go anywhere, including the gym. Balance by Nature developed a Virtual Gym solution that allows companies to customize their own online gym experience with more than 20 different fitness classes to choose from. From HIIT Training to Yoga, to Salsa Dancing and Martial Arts, we have something for everyone. This is the perfect solution for a remote workforce. It is time for employees to get up from their chairs for a movement break that will get their endorphins firing and improve their health!

Balance by Nature offers an ever-expanding range of stress reduction experiences designed to help employees shut off the body’s stress response and raise their emotions and energy back to a productive and inspired state. Clients can choose from meditation, mindfulness programs, growth mindset workshops, breathwork classes, music therapy classes, sound bath experiences, laughter therapy, EFT (emotional freedom technique) tapping, group reiki healing, energy healing, and our signature stress reduction and personal development programs ‘21 Days to Less Stress at Your Desk’ and ‘Finding Balance’.

Tell us about your nutrition programs.

Our team of nutritionists lead healthy cooking classes and food contests that inspire employees to incorporate new healthy recipes into their diets for better health outcomes. Clients can schedule weekly or monthly virtual cooking classes as a team building and educational opportunity while everyone is working from home. It is fun to schedule 30-minute classes over the lunch hour, where employees receive the ingredient lists ahead of time so they can be prepared and on camera to cook up their lunch with their colleagues.

Our nutritionists also deliver presentations on a wide range of health topics, where employees learn how to use food as medicine to improve their health and well-being. We also offer Mindful Eating programs to help employees change their relationship with food and with their bodies.

How does 21 Days to Less Stress at Your Desk challenge and Finding Balance membership transform the way we feel and perform in life?

Our signature stress reduction program, ‘21 Days to Less Stress at Your Desk’, teaches a wide range of work life balance skills to help employees feel their best and perform to their greatest potential. When employees feel stressed and overwhelmed, it is impossible for them to give 100% of their energy and attention to the task at hand. We teach them a wide range of tools and techniques to reduce stress and create healthy habits to support greater balance. This 21-day challenge provides a quick 5–10-minute work life balance video to watch each day during a work break. Employees learn stress reduction skills, breathing techniques, desk stretching exercises, meditations, growth mindset hacks, and nutrition demonstrations. It is a taste test of all the various services that Balance by Nature offers wrapped up into a simple-to-implement wellness challenge!

For those looking to take a deeper dive after completing the 21-day challenge, we offer our ‘Finding Balance’ Membership. This monthly program provides inspiring content for mental health, emotional resiliency, growth mindset, and personal transformation.
