10 Best Security Companies 2019
CIO Bulletin
Cybersecurity today involves many layers and, especially with the boom of the IoT and connected world. Modern fraudsters are evolving rapidly and use sophisticated methods to infiltrate cybersecurity measures and ultimately compromise the security of leading banks and many enterprises around the world. In order to combat such fraudulent activities, cybersecurity methods need to evolve and include the assessment of actual user behaviors gathered over time.
However, instead of simply adding more and more layers of fortification, BioCatch - a cybersecurity company- believes in focusing on the behavior of the fraudster. BioCatch extensively uses behavioral biometrics to catch the bad actors, gaining a distinctive place in the field of securing the digital space. BioCatch has a unique foundation built by experts in cybersecurity, neural science research, and machine learning. The firm set out to address the cyber threats of the next generation, since its establishment in 2011. With less fraud and less user friction, BioCatch enables organizations to provide their customers increased security and better user experience.
Understanding Behavioral Biometrics
In the field of cybersecurity, behavioral biometrics is a major breakthrough technology helping to identify people by ‘how they do’ and ‘what they do,’ rather than by ‘what they are’ (fingerprint, face), ‘what they know’ (secret question, password) or ‘what they have’ (token, SMS one-time code). Instead of simply analyzing a single data point, behavioral biometrics allows the analysis of human-device interactions to protect users and data.
Behavioral biometrics focuses on who is behind a session and not just what device or password was used to access a particular session. The technology learns and collects various data points to capture an array of human interactions between a device and an application. For example, hand-eye coordination, pressure, hand tremors, navigation and other finger movements, etc.
Catching up to BioCatch!
It all started when the founder of BioCatch- Avi Turgeman was serving in the military intelligence and began pursuing a theory that people interact with machines in unique, measurable ways. He tapped into his years of experience to understand system vulnerability management, white-hat hacking, and exploring how cyber-terrorists operate. Turgeman channeled his focus on online fraudsters and their identifiable signatures and co-founded BioCatch with Benny Rosenbaum. It can be said that the company is based on his work to create an identity theft safeguard, employing continuous biometric authentication.
Today, BioCatch has revolutionized the way organizations secure their online assets by developing a platform that identifies both human and non-human behaviors online. Even after nearly a decade, the firm is on a path of continuous innovation while driving awareness of the next generation fraud preventive needs. BioCatch ambitiously addresses a broad range of cyber concerns with an unparalleled portfolio of more than 50 granted or pending patents.
Major banks and eCommerce sites worldwide deploy the dynamic and enterprise-grade solutions from BioCatch. The platform collects and analyzes more than 2,000 parameters to generate unique user profiles and model different types of genuine and malicious behavior. In the background, there’s a continuous authentication process of users on the BioCatch system to ensure complete protection against cyber threats and fraudulent activities.
Why BioCatch…
-BioCatch Platform: BioCatch’s solution is designed to protect identities online while providing digital and mobile users with a frictionless experience.
-Invisible Challenges: BioCatch's patented Invisible Challenges technology introduces subtle tests into an online session to catch fraud that traditional solutions miss.
-Quick Deployment: Deploying BioCatch’s behavioral biometrics technology is easy, only requiring companies to add a simple piece of code to their mobile app or website.
-Return on Investment: Implementing the BioCatch solution results in significantly higher detection rates for immediate savings and improved user satisfaction.
BioCatch: Pioneering Behavioral Biometrics
The patented technology from BioCatch uses continuous authentication, a process of collecting and analyzing more than 2,000 traits after login to prevent real-time fraud. If there’s any unusual behavior, real-time alerts are generated and the activity is logged and visualized in the Analyst Station at BioCatch. With this unique solution, the company has gained recognition as a market leader who can reduce friction, decrease fraud and associated cyber threats, and provide quantifiable business value.
Here are the steps that BioCatch takes to makes its biometrics solution work:
Historically, behavioral biometrics included keystroke patterns, gait, signature and the like. But today, things are more accelerated. Advanced behavioral biometrics methods capture traits including hand-eye coordination, pressure, hand tremors, navigation, scrolling and other finger movements, etc. to create a unique user profile.Â
In this phase, a patented and unique technology from BioCatch is embedded onto an application or website. When a user logs in and completes his intended online activity, the BioCatch platform is working behind the scenes to analyze if invisible challenges have been successfully completed.
Real-time alerts are generated when the BioCatch platform detects unusual activities including criminal behavior, malware, bots, RATs, aggregators, etc.
At the time of widespread cyber threats and attacks, one can rely on BioCatch and its distinctive behavioral biometrics solutions.
