First Tek: Uncovering Opportunities and Connecting Possibilities

First Tek: Uncovering Opportunities and Connecting Possibilities

The technological world is constantly changing, evolving and reshaping our daily lives. There are many companies and startups sprouting today. But for any company to succeed in the complex world of technology, you’ll need exceptional connections. Be it the right experts, right opportunities or even the right answers at the right time, connections matter a lot. In the midst of this dynamic world sits First Tek as it uncovers opportunities and connects possibilities.

First Tek was founded in 2001 by Kumar Bhavanasi, with a vision to provide quality, cost-effective services, and solutions. The company assists clients in achieving mission-critical business objectives using state-of-the-art technologies while maximizing their ability to deliver value to their customers. From its humble origins, First Tek today partners with leading companies like eBay, BMW, Netflix, Fox, CBS, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Cafex and BlackDuck to connect them with top technology talent.

Kumar Bhavanasi, the man behind this innovation, has leveraged his exceptional connections to grow and expand its services to include custom software design and development for web and mobile applications for clients across the United States. A developer himself, Bhavanasi built First Tek by first identifying and cultivating talented individuals working in emerging technologies. He then connected them to clients ranging from Fortune 100 companies to state governments.

For the best service

Recognized as a leading provider of IT services and staffing, First Tek offers a full range of comprehensive IT services, including technology deployment services and enterprise support services. The company helps organizations design, install, deploy and run their IT, communications and network systems by providing services and the best IT consultants available. The project teams at the firm provide a mix of skills, experience and the personalities it takes to successfully complete a project. Nearly two decades of providing exceptional service, First Tek has repeatedly demonstrated its capability to successfully provide candidates to diversified IT industries. The company’s response rate has historically not only been rapid, but also regarded as high quality according to clients. The level of trust in the company’s efforts by staff has steadily increased since the company’s inclusion as a primary vendor for AAA, Microsoft, NBC Universal, SAP, EMC, Walmart, Canon, and many others.

Employees come first

It is interesting to know that First Tek has grown its employee and client base primarily through referrals and repeat business, with very little other marketing. From an initial focus in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic region, First Tek now has more than 850 employees serving clients in 42 states, with projected revenue of $120 million this year. With clients around the country, there is plenty of internal mobility, making it possible for someone to remain with the company even when circumstances warrant a change in location.

To Bhavanasi, it’s simple, “Employees come first. Without employees, we wouldn’t have a business.” Despite its rapid growth, First Tek employees remain loyal to the company, with an average tenure of more than a decade. Much of that retention is attributable to the company’s consistent focus  on professional development, first hiring the best and the brightest individuals, then making a significant investment in training to keep certifications current or ahead of trends. “The longer they stay with us, the better and more productive they are. We have a great team of tenured employees who are accountable, self-directed and get things done efficiently.”

In addition to providing professional development opportunities for employees, First Tek provides Instructor-Led Training (ILT) in support of customers’ information technology. Tailored specifically toward technical changes made within an organization, First Tek’s training curriculums are centered on leading edge products and services with a focus on employee performance improvement through an effective and measurable transfer of knowledge. While there is boundless opportunity for First Tek employees to work on a variety of projects across clients and geographies, Bhavanasi puts forth a strong emphasis on work-life balance.
